Jesus came, as we know, to the house of Israel and we know that these people, the Israelites, grew up in the miracles of Moses. They were more identified with the physical than any other people on the planet because that’s all they were taught, that Moses was from God because of all the great miracles he did.

So when Jesus came and said there are only two commandments, their jaws dropped.

So we look in Matthew 22 and we see that Jesus told them:

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is similarly, you shall love your neighbor as yourself.

On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.”
