Genesis 1:20-21 “And God said, ‘Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the vault of the sky.’ So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living thing with which the water teems and that moves about in it, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.”
Genesis 2:7 “Then the LORD God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.”
Reflection
“Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the vault of the raquia of the Shamayin.” Genesis 1:20
What this tells us is that birds or species of living beings were created. When He creates man He creates a “nefesh chaiai” and it is exactly the same word that is used for all these living creatures.
The Bible doesn’t speak of animals, it speaks of nefesh chaiai.
We are different in species, but we are both living creatures. This reveals something profound to us: there is a connection between all the living creatures that God created. The same breath of life that makes us living beings is shared at different levels of manifestation.
God didn’t create disconnected categories. He created an integrated order of life where everything that breathes shares the essence of nefesh chaiai, although each according to its kind and species.
Meditation for Today
Do I understand that God created all living creatures with the same principle of life, although in different species? Do I recognize the integrated order of creation?
Prayer
Father, I acknowledge that You created all living creatures with the same principle of life.
Reveal the integrated order of Your creation, where everything that breathes shares the essence of nefesh chaiai.
May I understand my place in this order as a living being created in Your image.
Amen.
Blessings beloved
