Hebrews 7:11–12
“If perfection could have been attained through the Levitical priesthood… why was there still need for another priest to come, one in the order of Melchizedek, not in the order of Aaron? For when the priesthood is changed, the law must be changed also.”
Hebrews 7:17
“You are a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.”
2 Corinthians 3:18
“And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into His image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”
Romans 1:17
“The righteous shall live by faith.”
Reflection
The priesthood according to Levi was a priesthood established by natural bloodline and sustained by an unchanging law. It was an external system defined by lineage, rules, and visible ordinances.
But the priesthood according to Melchizedek is completely different. It is an eternal, spiritual, and multidimensional priesthood. It does not depend on human lineage but on a heavenly reality and a living relationship with God.
Throughout history, every age has required a different manifestation of priesthood. The priesthood needed in the first century was different from that of other generations, and each era of humanity faces new spiritual demands and new dimensions of God’s glory.
For this reason, Scripture teaches that we were designed to move from glory to glory. This means the priesthood does not remain static but continually ascends in revelation, understanding, and manifestation of the Spirit.
In the Old Testament, righteousness was based on the law. Relationship with God was measured by external obedience to established commands.
However, in the priesthood according to Melchizedek, righteousness comes through faith. It is not external compliance that transforms a person, but faith that unites them with God internally.
This priesthood calls us to live from a higher dimension, where communion with God produces continuous transformation and leads us into greater measures of glory.
Meditation for Today
Pause and reflect:
Am I living a relationship with God based only on external rules, or on living and transforming faith?
Do I allow God to take me from glory to glory, or do I resist spiritual change?
Do I understand that I am called to participate in an eternal and heavenly priesthood?
Allow the Holy Spirit to expand your understanding and lead you into a deeper relationship with God.
Prayer
Lord,
thank You for calling me into an eternal priesthood according to the order of Melchizedek.
Take me from glory to glory.
Teach me to live by faith and not merely by external structures.
Transform my life to reflect Your righteousness, Your presence, and Your Kingdom.
May my relationship with You be living, deep, and growing every day.
Amen.
