The Gospel of Thomas, saying 91:

The crowd came to Him and said, “Tell us who You are so that we may believe in You.” Jesus said to them, “You examine the face of heaven and earth, but you have not come to know the One who is in your presence, and you do not know how to examine the present moment.”

This is basically Jesus saying: “Repent, because you’ve been so focused on the external world–you know how to tell when it’s going to be a rainy day, you know how to tell when it’s going to be a nice day; you discern the heavens, but you’re not even aware of the present moment, and it’s in that present moment that eternity exists. It’s in that present moment where you don’t have any situations that are weighing you down, because if you’re conscious of the present moment, you can’t remember the past and you can’t think about the future.”
