Galatians 4:26
“But the Jerusalem above is free, and she is our mother.”
2 Corinthians 3:6
“He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant—not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.”
Galatians 5:1
“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”
Reflection
God did not call us to live under a system of religious bondage, but to participate in the life and freedom of the Spirit. The old covenant revealed man’s inability to produce God’s life through his own strength, while the new covenant opened the way for that divine life to be imparted through the Holy Spirit. The letter alone cannot produce God’s nature; it is the Spirit who gives life.
Scripture presents a contrast between the slave woman and the free woman. Bondage represents everything that depends on human effort, earthly systems, and a relationship with God based merely on external rules. Freedom, however, comes from the Jerusalem above, our spiritual mother, and speaks of a living relationship with the Father, where the life of Christ is formed within us through the Spirit.
The New Jerusalem is not a future reality; it is a heavenly reality that begins to manifest in those who are connected to the Source of light. As our eyes are illuminated by Christ, we begin to perceive the life of the Kingdom and to walk from a dimension higher than the systems of this world. What once seemed hidden becomes visible to those who live in the light.
Victory does not come through the efforts of the flesh or through the power of religion. Victory comes through remaining united to Jesus Christ. When we are connected to the Source of light, we partake of His life, His peace, and His triumph. Darkness loses its dominion because the light of Christ is always greater. In Him, we already have the victory.
Meditation for Today
Am I living from a living relationship with the Spirit or from a system of religious effort?
Am I allowing the light of Christ to illuminate my understanding?
Am I walking in the freedom of the new covenant and the life of the Spirit?
Prayer
Father, thank You for calling me into the freedom and life of the Spirit. Deliver me from every form of religious bondage and from every confidence in my own strength.
Open my eyes to behold the realities of Your Kingdom and to live connected to the Source of light. Let the life of Christ be fully formed within me, and let Your Spirit guide me each day. May I stand firm in the freedom You have given me and walk in the victory You have established through Jesus Christ. Amen.
Blessings beloved
