Reflection
Scripture declares that we have come to the city of the living God. This heavenly city represents the dimension of the Kingdom of God, the sphere where His will, His glory, and His government are fully manifested. It is not merely a future reality, but a spiritual dimension into which we have been brought through Jesus Christ.
Jesus taught that the eye is the lamp of the body. The way we see determines the way we live. When our eye is healthy, when our perspective is aligned with the Kingdom and we learn to see things through the mind of Christ, our whole life begins to be filled with light. The light of the Kingdom not only illuminates our understanding, but also transforms the way we live and respond to circumstances.
The Kingdom of God is not limited by the restrictions of this world. Its resources, wisdom, and glory are infinitely greater than any temporary reality. In that glorious dimension are found the city of the living God, communion with His presence, and the inexhaustible riches of His Kingdom. The more we learn to live from that reality, the less power fear, anxiety, and earthly limitations have over us.
Yet many children of God devote much of their attention to the small point of darkness represented by the system of this world. Darkness only appears great when it becomes the center of our focus. But when our eyes are fixed on Christ and on the realities of the Kingdom, we discover that the light is infinitely greater than the darkness.
We have been called to live from the heavenly city and not from the limited perspective of this age. Wherever the light of the Kingdom governs our understanding, darkness loses its influence. Heaven is not limited, and those whose eyes are healthy begin to participate in the limitless dimensions of the glory of God.
Meditation for Today
Where is my focus fixed: on the light of the Kingdom or on the darkness of this world?
Am I learning to see circumstances the way God sees them?
Is my life being filled with the light that comes from the city of the living God?
Prayer
Father, thank You that through Jesus Christ You have brought me to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God. Thank You for giving me access to the riches and realities of Your Kingdom.
Teach me to have a healthy eye and to see from Your perspective. Remove from me every fascination with darkness and every tendency to fix my attention on what is temporary. Fill my understanding with Your light and allow my whole life to reflect the glory of Your Kingdom. May I live conscious of the limitless dimensions of Your presence and walk each day from the reality of the heavenly city. Amen.
