Exodus 24:15-16
“When Moses went up on the mountain, the cloud covered it, and the glory of the Lord settled on Mount Sinai. For six days the cloud covered the mountain, and on the seventh day the Lord called to Moses from within the cloud.”
Luke 14:18-20
“But they all alike began to make excuses. The first said, I have just bought a field, and I must go and see it. Please excuse me. Another said, I have just bought five yoke of oxen, and I’m on my way to try them out. Please excuse me. Still another said, I just got married, so I can’t come.”
Reflection
There are moments when God calls a person to come higher, to enter deeper dimensions of His presence and glory. Many times that call comes wrapped in a cloud, a place where everything is not clear to the natural mind. It is the cloud of His darkness, where the soul can no longer control, understand, or direct the process, and where only faith and obedience can sustain us.
When God says, “Come up here,” He is inviting us into greater surrender. Yet many respond with excuses: business, responsibilities, commitments, or natural distractions. The problem is not necessarily that these things are evil, but that they often occupy the place that belongs to God’s call.
True deliverers and disciples understand that their lives no longer fully belong to themselves. They learn that the Kingdom of God takes priority over their own plans, schedules, and comforts. They do not live trying to fit God into their agenda; they live by surrendering their agenda to Him.
Moses was able to enter the cloud because he was willing to leave everything else behind for the voice of God. There, within the cloud, he was transformed by divine glory and received heavenly instructions to deliver a nation. Those who respond to the call to come higher will always be transformed. For in God’s presence, the natural man decreases and eternal purpose grows stronger.
Meditation for Today
Am I responding quickly when God calls me deeper?
Are there responsibilities or distractions occupying the place of His call?
Am I willing to surrender my plans and timing completely to the Kingdom of God?
Prayer
Father, give me a heart willing to respond whenever You say, “Come up here.” Remove every excuse, distraction, or attachment that tries to keep me from entering deeper into Your presence.
Teach me to live surrendered to Your will rather than my own plans. Let Your Kingdom have absolute priority in my life. Give me courage to enter the cloud even when I do not fully understand the process, trusting that Your glory will transform me and prepare me to fulfill Your eternal purpose. Amen.
