Psalm 23:4 “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”
2 Corinthians 3:2-3 “You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everyone. You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.”
Romans 8:11 “And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.”
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.”
Reflection
When we see “shadow of death” it refers to sickness, when we speak of death, it is the door to all disease.
Death is not just the cessation of physical life. It is a spiritual power that operates in multiple dimensions. Its shadow manifests as sickness, weakness, deterioration. Where death has influence, disease finds entrance.
Today we have a sick society, like never before.
Not only physically, but emotionally, mentally, spiritually. Sickness has been normalized, suffering has been accepted as inevitable, weakness has been justified as part of the human condition.
It doesn’t matter if they are inside or outside the Church, both are equally sick.
This is the uncomfortable truth: the church doesn’t look significantly different from the world in terms of health, vitality, and fullness of life. The same diseases, the same weaknesses, the same brokenness affect believers and unbelievers alike.
If people outside look at the church, they don’t see living epistles of the Father’s glory.
We should be living letters, read and known by all. Our bodies and lives should reflect the Father’s glory, manifest the power of resurrection, demonstrate that the Spirit who raised Christ from the dead also gives life to our mortal bodies.
But instead of this, many times we reflect the same death, the same sickness, the same weakness that characterizes the fallen world.
We may call it church but is it truly a church? Is it truly what Jesus died for?
Jesus didn’t die so we could have religion without power, confession without transformation, meetings without manifestation of His life. He died so we would be temples of the Holy Spirit, so our bodies would glorify God, so resurrection life would be manifested in our mortal flesh.
The Lord is calling us to a Reformation not only of our understanding but also of our body.
It’s not enough to have correct theological knowledge. It’s not sufficient to understand doctrines. The reformation God is bringing includes the transformation of our bodies, the manifestation of His life in our flesh, the expulsion of the shadow of death that has contaminated even God’s people.
We were bought with a price. Our bodies don’t belong to us. They are temples of the Holy Spirit, and they must glorify God not only in word, but in living reality.
Meditation for Today
Does my body and my life reflect the Father’s glory or the shadow of death? Am I a living epistle that the world can read and see the difference Christ makes? Am I open to the reformation God wants to bring not only to my understanding but also to my body?
Prayer
Father, I acknowledge that the shadow of death has brought sickness to society, even within the church.
I declare that my body is a temple of the Holy Spirit and must reflect Your glory, not the shadow of death.
Call me to the Reformation You are bringing, not only in my understanding but also in my body.
May the Spirit who raised Christ from the dead give life to my mortal body, may I be a living epistle read by all, manifesting the power of resurrection in my flesh.
Be glorified in my body and in my spirit, which are Yours, and may my life truly reflect that for which Jesus died.
