Ephesians 3:20
“Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.”
Jeremiah 29:11
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”
2 Corinthians 4:7
“But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.”
Reflection
There is a deeply biblical exercise in pausing to imagine who one can become when one allows God to finish what He began. This isn’t fantasy or human ambition disguised as spirituality, but aligning one’s own vision with the thoughts God already holds about us, thoughts of good, of a purposeful future. Paul declares that God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or even imagine, which means any genuine vision of greatness God places in a person’s heart actually falls short of what He truly has prepared.
But it’s crucial to understand the nature of this greatness from the correct perspective. Paul himself, after describing extraordinary revelations and an unprecedented apostolic calling, clarifies something essential: “we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.” The greatness to which God calls is not the exaltation of the vessel, but the manifestation of the power that vessel contains. When demons and powers flee at someone’s presence, it’s not because that person is powerful in themselves, but because they have been filled in such a way with God’s presence that His authority manifests through them. This distinction guards the heart from the subtle trap of spiritual pride, even while fully embracing the call to greatness.
Crossing the border from the natural to the supernatural is not a one-time event, but a continuous decision to reject the limits the natural mind imposes on what is possible. Thousands of people can be influenced through one life, not because that person meticulously planned every step of their influence, but because they surrendered enough for God’s dream—bigger, broader, more eternal than any human dream—to be fulfilled through them.
Seeing yourself ten years from now is not a motivational visualization exercise; it’s an act of faith declaring that God’s thoughts toward us are good, and that His power, working in us, can carry us far beyond what our natural mind can conceive today.
Meditation for today
Am I allowing God to expand my vision of what I’m capable of through His power, or have I limited it to what my natural mind can conceive?
Do I recognize that any greatness in my life is God’s treasure manifesting in an earthen vessel, not my own excellence?
What do I need to release today to cross the border from the natural into the supernatural dream God has for me?
Prayer
Father, thank You that Your thoughts toward me are of good and not of evil, and that Your power can do exceedingly abundantly above what I can ask or understand. Help me dream according to the measure of Your greatness, not the limited measure of what my natural mind can imagine.
Remind me always that I am an earthen vessel, so that all the excellency of power manifested through me is Yours, not mine. Lead me to cross the border from the natural into the supernatural, and may the dream fulfilled in my life truly be Yours. In the name of Jesus, amen.
