1 Corinthians 2:14-16 “The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit. The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things. For, who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.”
John 3:3 “Jesus replied, Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.”
Reflection The new birth is far more than an emotional experience or a spiritual decision. It is the beginning of a new creation. When the Holy Spirit comes upon a person, the possibility is opened to connect with a higher reality: our life in Christ and the dimensions of the Kingdom of God. What was once invisible begins to become visible to the renewed spirit.
Jesus taught that no one can see the Kingdom of God unless they are born again. This means there is a spiritual perception unavailable to the natural mind. The natural person interprets reality only through human senses, experiences, and reasoning. But the Holy Spirit opens the eyes of our inner being to perceive the realities of the Kingdom.
Just as the early years of natural life are foundational in shaping the way we think, spiritual life begins a process in which the mind of Christ is formed within us. The Holy Spirit teaches us to see as Christ sees, think as Christ thinks, and respond as Christ would respond. It is an ongoing transformation that works from the inside out.
The natural mind has limits in understanding the things of the Spirit. That is why many truths of the Kingdom seem strange or impossible from a purely human perspective. Yet our inner being, born of the Spirit, can receive the wisdom of God and grow in spiritual understanding. As we walk with the Lord, the mind of Christ becomes more deeply established within us, and we begin to live from a heavenly reality while still on earth.
Meditation for Today Am I allowing the Holy Spirit to transform the way I think? Am I interpreting my life from a natural perspective or from the reality of God’s Kingdom? Are there areas where I need to surrender my reasoning in order to receive the mind of Christ?
Prayer Father, thank You for the gift of the new birth and for sending me Your Holy Spirit. Open my spiritual eyes more and more to see the realities of Your Kingdom and understand the things that come from You.
Form the mind of Christ within me. Renew my thoughts, perceptions, and understanding of life. Help me not to depend only on natural reasoning, but to walk led by Your Spirit. Let my inner being grow in wisdom, discernment, and revelation until it reflects more and more the nature of Your Son. Amen.
