Reflection
One of the greatest dangers of religion is its tendency to postpone everything it does not understand to some distant future. Whatever it cannot explain, it assigns to life after death. Yet Jesus did not come merely to give us a future hope, but to bring us now into the realities of the Kingdom of God.
Throughout history, the rational mind separated from the revelation of the Spirit has attempted to reduce heavenly realities to what can be understood through natural senses. But the Kingdom of God does not belong to this world, nor is it limited by the capacities of the human mind. There are dimensions of God’s life that can only be known through revelation and not merely through reasoning.
The danger is not knowledge itself, but making our limited understanding the measure of what God is able to do. When man concludes, “If I cannot see it, then it does not exist,” he places himself as the standard of truth. But God is infinitely greater than our understanding. His Kingdom is filled with realities that transcend our natural abilities and can only be discerned through the Holy Spirit.
Jesus Christ came to reconcile heaven and earth and to reopen access to eternal realities. Our security and power do not come from the systems of this world, but from our union with the Kingdom of God. There we find peace, authority, and hope. The children of God were not called to live confined by earthly logic, but to walk by faith and to continually grow in the revelation of heavenly things.
Meditation for Today
Am I limiting God to what my mind can understand?
Am I living only from an earthly perspective, or am I allowing the Holy Spirit to reveal the realities of the Kingdom?
Am I seeking the things above with the same diligence with which I seek the things of this earth?
Prayer
Father, thank You because through Jesus Christ You have opened for us access to the realities of Your Kingdom. Forgive me for the times when I have limited Your work to my own understanding and allowed my natural mind to determine what is possible for You.
Teach me to live by the revelation of Your Spirit and to seek heavenly things with a humble and willing heart. Remove from me every mindset that separates heaven from earth and help me live aware that Your Kingdom is present and active. May my security, hope, and authority rest in You and not in the systems of this world. Amen.
