Colossians 3:1-3
“If then you have been raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.”
Ephesians 1:4
“Just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him.”
2 Corinthians 3:18
“But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.”
Reflection
What we fix our gaze on ends up shaping the way we think, live, and respond to circumstances. When our focus stays captive to darkness, fear, limitations, and problems take the center of our awareness. But God invites us to lift our eyes and contemplate an infinitely greater reality: His glory and His Kingdom.
Scripture calls us to set our minds on things above. This isn’t about ignoring the realities of this world, but about learning to interpret them from heaven’s perspective. The more we behold Christ, the more we are transformed into His image. The light of His presence changes the way we see, and enables us to walk in hope, peace, and discernment.
Before the foundation of the world, God chose us in Christ according to His eternal purpose. Our true identity is not defined by our circumstances, our past, or our struggles, but by the design the Father conceived from eternity. Discovering that identity changes the way we live, because we begin to see ourselves as God sees us.
When God’s glory occupies the center of our attention, darkness loses its power to dominate our thoughts. Transformation begins where our focus changes. As we behold Christ, His light fills our understanding and equips us to manifest the life of the Kingdom in the midst of the world.
Meditation for today
Where is my attention fixed: on darkness or on the glory of God?
Am I seeing my life from my circumstances, or from the identity God gave me in Christ?
Am I allowing the contemplation of Christ to transform the way I think?
Prayer
Father, thank You for choosing me in Christ before the foundation of the world, and because my true identity is secure in You. Help me to take my eyes off of that which produces fear, and fix them on Your glory and Your Kingdom.
Renew my understanding so that I may learn to see as You see. As I behold Christ, may I be transformed from glory to glory, and may my life reflect the light, hope, and reality of Your Kingdom in all that I do. Amen.
