Matthew 18:3 “And he said: ‘Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.'”
1 Corinthians 1:27 “But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.”
Reflection
Are we better than the Pharisees?
Are we people so knowledgeable that we know the word so well and yet lose the target?
Or are we like the shepherds, with a simple heart that God can turn, to start something so new and so powerful, that preconceived ideas will not hold you back?
This is the question we must ask ourselves honestly. The Pharisees were not bad people who intentionally rejected God. They were the most dedicated, the most studious, the most zealous for the scriptures. And yet they completely lost the target.
Knowledge without a humble heart blinds you. Preconceived ideas, however biblical they may seem, can make you miss what God is doing right now.
The shepherds didn’t have sophisticated theology, but they had something more valuable: a simple heart that God could move. When the angel spoke, they believed. When the promise was announced, they ran. There were no mental bubbles to stop them.
Meditation for Today
Am I like the Pharisees, so sure of my ideas that I can lose the target? Or do I have a simple heart that God can move toward something new?
Prayer
Father, I don’t want to be like the Pharisees who lost the target despite knowing the scriptures.
Give me a simple heart like the shepherds, that You can turn toward the new thing You are doing.
Break my preconceived ideas so they don’t hold me back from seeing and receiving what You are manifesting now.
Amen.
Blessings beloved
